It is true that lash extensions can offer you freedom from mascara but not everyone can ditch mascara and that is understandable. For many of us, mascara offers the perfect finishing touch to your makeup routine. It is important to know what applying mascara can do to your new lashes. Yes, you can wear mascara with eyelash extensions. However, you should only wear mascara if you have classic eyelash extensions and not with volume lashes. Also, it is very important that you avoid waterproof mascara on lash extensions because it’s difficult to take off.
Mascara can’t be applied on all types of lash extensions. While it’s ok for classic lashes, the same does not apply to other sets like hybrid or volume eyelash extensions. The reason being is that classic lash extensions is one extension is to one natural lash while volume lash extensions is multiple extensions to one real lash.
When applying mascara to volume and hybrid lashes, it can cause extra weight to your new lashes leading them to fall out prematurely. Also applying mascara will cause you to actually lose volume, because the lashes will be mingled together and close the fan. Why get volume lashes just to lose the volume by applying mascara?!
BENEFITS TO WEARING MASCARA WITH CLASSIC LASHES:
- Mascara can help your classic extensions look thicker.
- Mascara can change the color of your extensions if you use a contrasting-colored mascara.
- It can increase the length of extensions.
- When your lash extensions are sparse one or two coats of mascara can help you if you want to push your refill appointment.
- Certain mascaras are infused with growth ingredients like peptides, Vitamin E, Keratin, and Biotin that can help keep your natural lashes healthy and growing.
HOW TO APPLY MASCARA TO LASH EXTENSIONS
Applying mascara to your natural lash vs your lash extensions are very different and you need to be extra careful when doing so. Eyelash extensions are bonded to natural lashes and making a wrong move can cause them to fall out earlier than usual, or worst damage your lashes. This is how we tell our clients at Lucia Lash/Brow Azabu, Osaka, Okinawa, and Shinjuku, Japan, to apply mascara to their extensions:
- Brush your lashes with a clean spoolie brush.
- Gently apply a coat of mascara on your natural lashes and extensions.
- Apply from the middle and go towards the tips.
- Do not apply mascara to the roots.
- Avoid adding more than two coats of mascara to false eyelash extensions.
In conclusion, yes, you can apply mascara to your eyelash extensions. Is it needed? No, but if you must make sure to do it the right way to save the retention and look of your eyelash extensions.
